Various techniques have thus far been presented for determining the potential and hydrodynamic coefficients around the oscillating two-dimensional sections in the free surface flows. one important technique is conformal mapping of two dimensional sections onto a simple unit circle, because there is an analytical solution for the potential around it. In the current study, a particular novel multi parameter conformal mapping is presented which possesses high capability in mapping any arbitrary sections onto a unit circle. This method does not have limitations that its predecessors did and has the ability to map any two dimensional sections.
The presented mapping techniques have been applied to map four different sections of wedge, elliptic, parabolic, and mid ship full sections onto a unit circle. Comparison of the resulting mapped points with those of the real body sections illustrates favorable agreeement which is indicative of high accuracy of the proposed mapping technique.
