Using data derived from satellite to study sea surface temperature are nowadays very common. This is Possible on the basis of thermal radiation of objects.
In this investigation the satellite images of the MODIS has been used to study the sea surface temperature of the south Caspian Sea. The data was from the whole year of 2012 has been used. These data was first evaluated with those temperature data derived from a buoy in the site. Afterward using 26 different stations over the Caspian Sea the pattern of sea surface temperature were studied for different seasons of a year. It was found that temperature decreases toward east and south. It was also found that average temperature in spring time is less than those of autumn. Parameters apart from weather temperature was suggested to be the reason.
